C. N. Iheama-Chanma, PhD

Dr. Iheama-Chanma who recently retired as the Director, Learning and Development at the Centre for Management Development is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He studied Political Science and Sociology and graduated with a Second Class Upper Degree in 1979. Subsequently, he took a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Lagos in 1981. In 1992, he took another Masters degree in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands. In 2011, he defended his PhD in Policy Analysis and Public Administration from the University of Abuja, Nigeria.

Dr. Iheama has widely written. Some of his written works include: Bond of Harmony, Black Society and African Profile which are programmes written for the external service of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). Other written works that are to his credit include: Towards a New Political Philosophy (Guardian, January 1984); After the Accord (Daily Times, 1981); Graduate Unemployment – A Political Gunpowder (Political Digest, 1983); Poor Industrial Relations Practices of Small Scale Entrepreneurs in Developing Countries (Nigerian Management Review). He also co-authored a chapter with Dr. J. Y. Maiyaki on Education for National Development in a book “Management Challenges in the 21st Century”.

Dr. Iheama has attended a number of workshops and conferences in Nigeria, Brussels, The Netherlands, India and South Korea. In the area of Project Management, Dr. Iheama has varied experience and has at various times served as Project Coordinator in UNDP and World Bank Assisted Programmes. He has also served as a Member, Presidential Committee for the Preparation of Blue Print on National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP); Lead-Consultant, Nation-Wide Train-the-Trainer Programme for Education Tax Fund; Project Team Member, Ford Foundation Sponsored Management and Governance for Nigerian Universities; Consultant, OHCSF/OSSAP – MDGs National Capacity Building Project.

His area of competency among others include: Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship Development and Small Business Development, Public Policy Analysis and Public Sector Reforms.

Dr. Iheama is currently the Chairman, Abuja Chapter of the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria. He is also the Founder and Executive Director, Institute of Retirement Management (Nigeria).
